A Peek At Our Easter

Our best turkey every was created with fresh thyme, lots and lots of butter, and garlic stuffed under the skin and rubbed onto the surface then roasted in the en-fared cooker – LOVE THIS COOKER! No grease, no water, and moist, flavorful meat.  Best of all this cooker is hubby’s and he’s in charge.

IMG_7183Then we added potatoes grown in our garden from last summer and topped with home canned bone broth gravy; ham; kind of fresh beans from the store cooked part-way and then sauteed in garlic/Parmesan olive oil with bits of cooked bacon; a fresh green salad; and homemade light fluffy rolls – topped with cultured butter and tri-berry homemade jam; and finally devil eggs – a must. It was simple, nutritious, and so…. delicious.

IMG_7222Then the grand kids lined up for the Easter Egg hunt. The oldest grandchildren took off and scoured the yard for eggs while the youngest …… (she is young)

…intently set about picking up deer poop. The stuff that covers the yard. Good thing it snowed and covered the bulk of it. Easter eggs, well, been there done that earlier in the morning in the house. This was a new adventures. Told no more deer poop she began picking up snow clumps. Surely that needs done too. Those specialty eggs grandma had loving collected  in the shape of flowers, chicks, carrots and bunnies were left for mom to pick up. The same mom who had only moments before thoughtfully scattered them.

Then it was off to pick up more deer poop. Disgusted, mom gave her a piece of chocolate. MMM….. that does the trick.

Meanwhile everyone else with eggs in hand head in to open presents of silly cheap individual games that shoot balls and saucer shaped objects into the air. But I was smart first and had them open up the inexpensive stuff animals.  The kids loved it and the roof nearly raised up off the house with the volume of their laughter and excitement. Cousins are just the best!! All around a wonderful, exhausting day. I pray your Easter was filled will laughter and family.
